Our long-term aim in developing a raw material base in Ghana (West Africa) is to secure supplies e.g. of palm kernel oil for, in particular, surfactants production, in line with our sustainability criteria. Palm kernel oil is an important feedstock in the production of certain surfactants.
PCC Organic Oils Ghana Limited

Our project company PCC Organic Oils Ghana Limited, Akim Oda (Ghana), began its own production of palm kernel oil, an important raw material for fatty alcohols and thus essential for surfactant production, in the fourth quarter of 2016. PCC Organic Oils Ghana purchases palm nuts from small farmers in the surrounding area, who obtain these nuts during the extraction of palm oil from the fruit pulp of the palm fruit. From the nuts, we extract high-quality palm kernel oil, among other products, in our facility. In the long term, PCC Organic Oils Limited is intended to contribute to supplying our surfactant producer PCC Exol SA with renewable raw materials. Environmental protection is very important to us. The sustainability of our production is also underlined by current certifications, including those from ECOCERT. In addition, we are in continuous exchange with the local community, whose concerns are very important to us. We have now been able to create 120 jobs on site.
