PCC Donates Again 10,000 Euros to Homeless Aid Organization ‘Gemeinsam gegen Kälte Duisburg e.V.’

Latest News

As in previous years, PCC donates 10,000 euros to the homeless aid organization ‘Gemeinsam gegen Kälte Duisburg e.V.’ With this, PCC SE continues a years-long tradition, as the Duisburg-based company has been supporting the non-profit organization every winter since 2019 with generous monetary donations, now totaling 80,000 €. The organization was founded in 1997 by citizens of Duisburg. The volunteer staff advocate for people who have been marginalized in our society, and they particularly help people in Duisburg who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Increasingly, this includes people who can no longer manage their daily lives due to financial and personal problems.

Riccardo Koppe, board member of PCC SE, presents the donation check on February 20, 2025 to Roland Meier, the 1st chairman of the organization ‘Gemeinsam gegen Kälte Duisburg e.V.’ The ceremonial check handover in front of Duisburg City Hall took place in the presence of Mayor Sören Link and Astrid Neese, Head of Education and Social Affairs of the City of Duisburg, as well as Ulrike Warnecke, supervisory board member of PCC SE.

“Our donation this year is once again a heartfelt thank you to the organization ‘Gemeinsam gegen Kälte Duisburg e.V.’ and its volunteer staff for their tireless efforts,” said PCC board member Riccardo Koppe. “We are pleased and proud that we can now contribute to the success of their eminently important work for the seventh consecutive time.”

“The generous donation we receive from PCC again this year is extremely important to us and we are very pleased with the appreciation of our commitment,” explained Roland Meier, the 1st chairman of the organization. “We rely on donations for our medical and social care work, as our organization does not receive any public funds or other regular subsidies. Poverty has become clearly visible in Duisburg and other cities with high unemployment. Groups on the margins of society, such as the homeless or severely drug-dependent people who mainly live on the streets, are almost completely excluded from participation. Our task and motivation are to empower these people to participate again and to accompany and support them on this path.”

With the donations from PCC SE, emergency vehicles could be financed in recent years, among other things. Over the years, PCC and many other donors have been able to acquire a new cold bus and a completely overhauled medical bus. The cold bus is on the road four days a week in various districts of Duisburg, providing homeless people with clothing and food, among other things. The medical bus ambulance provides medical care to people on the street with a volunteer team of doctors, nurses, drivers, and other staff. It operates two days a week. The care particularly helps people who are not insured or have little access to medical practices or hospitals.

Other services offered by the homeless aid include a clearing apartment, an apartment for homeless women, men, or couples. They can be accommodated there in a furnished apartment without having to overcome bureaucratic hurdles. In another furnished apartment, homeless people find a place to stay after being discharged from Duisburg hospitals following inpatient treatment.

With the renewed donation to the Duisburg homeless aid, PCC underlines its social commitment in the vicinity of its group headquarters. PCC has been supporting social initiatives in Duisburg and internationally for many years. In addition to the organization ‘Gemeinsam gegen Kälte Duisburg e.V.’, PCC has also been involved in recent years with donations to other initiatives such as the German Child Protection Association in Duisburg. In Poland, group companies such as PCC Rokita SA and PCC Exol SA have been recognized multiple times in international rankings for socially responsible corporate action (Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR).
