Together with Fraunhofer ISE, PCC Thorion GmbH is developing a composite material made of silicon and carbon to increase the performance of lithium-ion batteries. As an anode active material, the high-tech component offers several times higher energy density than the commonly used graphite and therefore significantly increases the capacity of lithium-ion batteries. This enables considerably longer ranges. Shorter charging times for electric cars, for example, are also aimed for. In their cooperation, the two partners use silicon as a starting material, which the PCC company PCC BakkiSilicon hf<\/a>. produces in Iceland sustainably and climate-friendly, 100 percent with green electricity from geothermal energy. The silicon metal powder from PCC with fineness in the nanometer range is integrated into a silicon-carbon composite technology developed by Fraunhofer ISE.       <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":4665,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"investition-segment":[],"investition-status":[63],"land":[65,69],"class_list":["post-6279","investition","type-investition","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","investition-status-current","land-deutschland-en","land-island-en"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/investition\/6279","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/investition"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/investition"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/investition\/6279\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":10817,"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/investition\/6279\/revisions\/10817"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/4665"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6279"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"investition-segment","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/investition-segment?post=6279"},{"taxonomy":"investition-status","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/investition-status?post=6279"},{"taxonomy":"land","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pcc.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/land?post=6279"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
